English Ford Mercur 5-speed transmission conversions
No financial interest, etc...

This unit supplied by John Esposito at Quantum Mechanics, 505 Wheeler Road, Monroe, CT  06468

It is useable in all Spitfires, GT6, MGTD, MGTF, MGA, MGB, Midget and more…

The Spitfire kit includes everything from transmission tunnel to bolts, mounts, clutch disk, adaptor plate (to stock bell housing due to longer input shaft).

I am told there is no cutting of steel driveshaft tunnel in front of handbrake or in firewall area for the Spitfire unit.

I estimate the shifter will be 2-3 inches further to the rear than stock, which helps with the radio/cassette access.

Below chart does not have Spitfire ratios to compare, hopefully I will get them soon.

I will be meeting with the owner of a converted Spitfire soon, I hope (this as of 5/19/2002)

(I’ve been busy, hopefully in late June)
